Abstract

Our species is afraid of loss. This is rather odd when you think about it, because one day, each of us must die. On that day, like it or not, we will lose everything that mattered anyway. It’s almost as though we miss the “thought” of our loved ones after they die, more than we missed them when we actually had the chance to go and see them.
